This is what I use to get the YN-560/580EX to stick into the brolly box.

it's similar to the top half of the first photo you posted.

You set everything up so that the flash is pointing straight up at the ceiling, then you rotate that ball section on the bracket 90 degrees, so that the entire flash is parallel with the ground. The flash remains straight, you don't bend the flash head at all.

Oh, yeah, sorry.. I assumed you had an umbrella bracket to hold the brolly box.. so the bracket goes on top the umbrella adapter.

Light stand connection to umbrella mount via 1/4" screw. (This is the umbrella mount I use for speedlites - http://www.adorama.com/LTUSH.html (external link) )

Umbrella mount connects to C-bracket via cold/shoe mount.

Flash sits in C-bracket.

Then the whole thing gets set up so that the entire flash (head+body) can be held parallel with the ground and it sticks into the brolly box.

Its a real pity that that umbrella bracket does not seem to be available outside of the US.

An excellent alternative is either the Manfrotto 026 or the Type H on ebay

Yep.

Until I found the TypeH bracket, I used to curse the weight of three or four Manf 026s.

Here is the exact same thing on Amazon:

Softbox (external link)

Its the same one that I bought.

I clicked on this link and looked at the technical details about half way down. It show 2 - 40" umbrellas. So do you get to umbrellas for that price?

Never mind. I figured it out. Hard to believe at that price. I just can't figure out why Amazon won't ship to my address in Canada.
