You might want to try the Cheetah 41" umbrella softbox. I believe Edward is selling them for about $35 or so. It's not as great a deal as the Kaeser but the quality if good. I've used it and like it. It gives the Softlighter a good run for the money and probably produces the same light as the Kaeser.

Never mind. I figured it out. Hard to believe at that price. I just can't figure out why Amazon won't ship to my address in Canada.

Thanks to an Amazon.com agreement, us folks in Canada aren't allowed to buy a lot of the photographic equipment listed on the .com site (and those items are also not listed on the .ca site).

I just picked up this set: 2 x 43" Umbrella Softbox Brolly Reflective Photo Studio (external link). Quality seems pretty comparable or better than my Westcott MPEX umbrellas, and the total price shipped in Canada is equal to the total charged by Kaeser with shipping (and he ships via UPS... eeeep).

just got the umbrella softbox but i payed additional $35 bucks. ive read somewhere that there are no dues or whatsoever if the photographic equipment was purchased in the usa?is this right?

If he did ship via UPS (I think that's the extra $35), you'll probably get hit with taxes and a "processing fee" for importing it into Canada. If it was made in the USA you shouldn't be charged a tariff, but I think these are sourced from Asia...

Anywho, I've had great results with these so far. Awesome product for the price!

Edward Tang is the owner of Cheetah Stand. I'm not sure if the umbrella softbox is on his site yet but he does or will have them available.

You can contact Edward through his site:

He ships to Canada and tries his best to keep shipping costs down.

That is what Amazon told me when I chatted with them tonight. They have 3 sellers so may try another one, check the one you posted (thanks by the way) or those Cheetah's.

Well this time around I decided on this set. Last time I ordered a Cybersync transmitter they nailed me with an additional $37.

I should have gone with the USPS.. another bad experience is with adorama, i msg them like 3 times to ask how much is the shipping for my address, got no reply for 5 days. i got bored and just bought a $12 item, and to my surprise i was charge $42 on shipping:(
learned my lesson. I will never deal with adorama again.

would also like to purchase at b&h but they uses Puralator service which i believe is one of the worst courier around.

I have never had to many issues ordering from B&H. The postees had a strike vote. Not sure if it is national as I don't pay much attention that stuff. Not shut down yet but I think they are disrupting service. Not sure how many things are going by post but now I have this, something from Flash Zebra (post for sure) and a YONGNUO Speedlite from Tomtop. We'll see.

I haven't had any problem with ordering from B&H either , actually i just got the LEE foundation , it shipped on 30/5 , the package isn't in a perfect condition , but it's fine .

And i also got the Cheetax Qbox24 via USPS , no issues at all , got it in 7-10 days .

Something is not accurate here... There is a shipping estimate field on the Adorama checkout page, where you can find out exactly what the rates are... Including To Edmonton...

I just checked that it'll cost $30 in postage to edmonton, for a $5 item I picked. Expensive? yes.. but they let you know that..

I was concerned to read your posting; if you put your items into the cart at checkout, you should be able to select the UPS shipping method, and see the cost for your area, before you finalize your purchase.

If you would prefer to have your items shipped USPS, you can simply drop me an email: Helen@adorama.com (external link)

ok i forgot to mention, i bought it on your ebay store. I tried the shipping calculator and i got this message

"Shipping and handling
Shipping cannot be calculated for your area. You can contact the seller for additional shipping costs and services."

and i did contact the store. 3x within 5 days and got no response.

I never tried B&H just because they're using puralator. maybe in the future.

Sorry if u find it hard to understand my English. Its not my mother tongue.

Have a wonderful day.

Well they went on strike last night. I think it is rotating so I guess I'll see my stuff in a month.

Unfortunately, that's an EBay ruling; at present the Adorama EBay store is only able to offer shipping within the US via the store.

I can't explain why you didn't receive a response to your emails - and can only apologize - but you are most welcome to email me directly: Helen@adorama.com (external link)
