Ixus V2 or the Powershot A40

I am about to buy my first digital camera. After a great deal of research the contest has been narrowed down to the Ixus V2 or the Powershot A40.

Has anyone been through a similar decision making procedure? What were the factors that weighed most heavily in your choice?

Are there any among you that regret your decision and would now prefer the model you originally decided against?

When I was undecided between these two cameras, I chose my A 40 because I wanted the 3X zoom instead of the 2X in the Ixus. I also wanted to be able to use AA batteries(I use Rayovac rechargable NiHM kind). These are cheap and easy to buy. The Ixus takes specialized expensive ones. I've seen so many great looking pictures taken and posted online in galleries by the A40. I am so glad I chose mine because all my pictures are great looking. I know I made the right decision.
