When I was out over the weekend a hiker asked if I'd seen the owl in the small natural area I was birding at (where I got the Kestrel image a couple of days ago). I said no, but I'd look for him next time. Well I stopped back by today and sure enough there he was. I'm sure he makes a pretty good living there as the place is packed with prairie dog and I'm sure mice and other critters.

Great captures Kenny.....I've never actually seen an owl in person, heard a lot of them around, but never able to locate where they are.

Nice catch. It may be a resident owl. How's that for a tip eh? From a hiker too ;)

Well, this is from Delaney Farm a small nature area - probably less than a mile square that is surrounded by the city of Aurora, CO (a part of the Denver Metro area). Many people go there -- like this woman to walk their dogs and just to get away from the city life but fortunately it is not over-run by people and nature actually thrives there. I love these little places like this and have made a serious effort the last few years to visit, learn about, document, and support them as best I can. Almost all my bird photos and many landscapes/nature shots are from areas like this in and around Denver.
