I have the 28x28 Apollo softbox, this one. http://www.bhphotovideo.com …/Westcott_2335_Apollo_Mon (external link)

Has anyone here tried this softbox with an alien bee? Is there enough room inside to make it work?

The Apollo mono is designed specifically to be used with monolights. There's no reason why it won't work with an Alien Bees strobe. It's a monolight. :D

I know it says mono, but not so sure thats its primary design. I've used it with a 580exII and its fantastic for that. I'm getting my first Bee soon and wondered if it will do double duty.

That is exactly what it's designed for. The designation of 'mono' is what makes it different from the standard Apollo and if you look at the Westcott site you can see the mount and the difference. I'm not trying to be cocky but the word mono is literally referring to the softbox being used with monolights and as long as there is an umbrella mount on the monolight (which Alien Bees have) the it will work.

The photos on the westcott site show the monolight extending from the bottom of the box, which would put it at a right angle to the internal umbrella shaft. The box I linked to, and purchased from B&H doesnt have any sort of adapter to make that work. Any suggestions?
