hey guys,

I hate to ask this question. I see stuff like this asked all the time and I always say .. "cmon dude" to myself, but now I am stuck asking it.

Do/have any of you guys shot exterior and interior shots of restaurants?

How much did YOU charge? This would include unlimited usage of the photos in ads and whatever

of course it all depends on the market and area.

Those of you who have shot a night at a nightclub for promotional photos,

how much did you charge for that night, and the usage of the photos for anything?

I'm just trying to figure out a good ballpark to ask for, i'm no novice to shooting, just the pricing.

thanks in advance

In my market, I charge $300-500 an hour for food and restaurant interior photography for independant restaurants. Nightclub photography is more price sensitive and I charge $100 an hour.

Where are you located?

If I wanted to know that, I'd look under his avatar first?

Haha, I have shot a restaurant once, and I did that as a favor for my mom as she works there. However, they haven't used any of the images - long story on their sloth. They wouldn't be getting the same deal today as of last summer.

I'm based in the UK so I don't think I can give an accurate price. But I'd bear in mind if they want full rights, i.e. unlimited use etc, you want a fair few dollars. To put it into context if they run five adverts that's five commissions or five payments you won't receive, not to mention other uses.

Given that they want full, unlimited use, which isn't far away from handing copyright, I'd price to the high end of the scale. Your future sales of the images will be small I think, unless it's a famous restaurant that will sell well as stock.

For nightclub shots you may need to make the client aware they need a model release if people are present in the images. Again I'd price dependent on their usage requirements.

I'd perhaps approach them with a lower fee but with a smaller usage timescale - suggesting that as their business grows and develops you can re-shoot and keep the images current for their uses. Giving them a licence that restricts them to a year or two usage will mean future work for you and a longer relationship with your clients.
