Working while out taking pictures, illegal?

Just so much nonsense over a thread in the Talking Photography forum which has reached the point of absurdity...

So, today I thought about thinking about they idea of taking some shots. I looked outside, saw the weeds in the yard, drew the drapes and then I got better by spending the day watching my own private Outer Limits on Hulu along with the 3-seasons of Chef! I have on DVD, all day. But the idea of taking pictures was revisited on numerous occasions, but the whole weeds in the yard thing was an effective barrier.

So, what has anyone else been up to?

I've trained my eyes to ignore weeds and anything to do with yard work, my ears to ignore commercials but not the dog barking because that means he needs to go out and I haven't trained my nose to ignore the smell of dog poop.
