Anyone else notice the major price increase for the Sigma 24-70? I bought mine in January of this year from Amazon for $416..... checked it out this week and it's going for $569!!!

What's that all about?

If you haven't noticed, Canon raised a lot of their prices as well. Everybody is suffering in this economy.

The Sigma 15 fisheye went from $570 to $670 to $750 in the course of the last 3 months. Makes the $475 I paid for mine used seem like the deal of the century!

Yeah! I noticed it too.. I hope a better economy in the future.

Don't worry when the economy picks back up the price will not come back down.

I'm sure once the economy gets better, Canon and the others, will drop their prices to what they were last year. ...because they love their loyal customers so much.

The 10-20 went from 500 last summer to 430 for a while and the last I checked, it's 480.

At the old 24-70's price, I'd buy the 24-60 or save up a little more and get the HSM or Canon version of that lens with much better AF.

Actually I did not notice any significant price increase. 70-200/2.8 IS is the same as it was last year, 17-55/2.8 - same thing. 100-400 same. 24-70 a bit higher but not that much. By the way if anything the prices go down in this economy. ( check at the gas station for example ).

Except that supply has dropped drastically, which means prices go UP. And most Canon lenses have increased in price. The 17-40L used to be $625 or so...now it's $750. The Canon fisheye used to be $500...now it's $610...oh wait, that's what it was LAST week. It's now $659.

And the 17-55 HAS gone up. It's the same with rebate, but without the rebate, it's up $70. The 28 f/1.8 has gone from $429 to $459. Pretty much every lens has increased at least a little in price. The 35L has gone from $1160 3 months ago to $1235 right now
