Is there a demand for electrical engineers here in Canada now, and are they getting good pay out of Uni?

I wouldn't be working on my Ph.D if the demand was that high! Joking aside, there are a lot of factors playing in the answer of that question. For example, if you are not geographically limited, then you obviously have more chances of finding a job somewhere in Canada, than let's say, me, as my wife currently works and I am looking to find a job in the same city as much as possible.

With regards to pay, again, it depends on the company, your field of expertise or concentration, etc.

All in all, if you are interested in finding a job in Canada, you have to do some research about what is available. Jobs are not falling from the sky and the competition is high.

Actually, it's not even that, it seems that a large percentile of people graduating from University end up either not getting a job in that field, or getting one and hating it, or even pursue a career in it and find out later it's not for them, and end up switching fields either rendering their degrees useless and not going back to school, or going back and getting a whole nother degree.
I tell you one thing that's certain, you are very young to decide your future career wise for education when you get out of high school, and it drives me nuts knowing that.
Electrical engineering is something I might be interested in, but my dad graduated with a degeree 30 years back in Russia and never ended up getting a job in the field in Canada. I realize that was quite some time ago, but yeah. I think overall engineers are in decent demand though.

Inspector (Lieutenant to those of you on the other side of the pond) in the Metropolitan Police working in the very centre of London. Love the job but looking forward to retirement in September 2007 (at the tender age of 49!);)
