For those looking to pick up an extra lens, the Canon rebates is always a good time to do it. However, some of you may have been shocked when you visited B&H web site to see that the price "magically" increased over night.
It appears that B&H raised their prices in conjunction with the rebates, nullifying the rebate, or significantly reducing the rebate. For example
Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS -> normally $1699 went to $1799 = $100 increase
Canon 100mm Macro -> normally $490 went to $525 = $35 increase, which is ironically the same value as the Canon Rebate
Canon 16-35 -> normally $1400 went to $1499 = $99 increase, which is ironically the same amount as the Canon rebate
Canon 24-70 -> normally $1190 went to $1270 = $80 increase, which is ironically the same amount as the Canon rebate
And there are more examples. I've always used B&H, but I find this practice very sleazy. They are taking the rebate money away from the customer and pocketing it themselves.
