The sky sure is blown out for being an HDR image. You should try wider bracketing to bring the color back into the sky.

You are from Birmingham! Hahaha, I only looked your "location" after seeing this pic you took in Fiveways.

C&C:
There is no interest, do I look at the boat? the bridge? or the slope leading to the bridge?

I have been to the exact spot (without my camera) and was thinking about what would make a good photo. I only spent few minutes as I was just passing by, but I have failed to discover any interesting subject. I feel the same in this shot. One tip I read from a book is if you cant take it all in, try shooting detailed objects with characteristics.

I agree with the lack of interest in this shot but for being a first HDR shot, I am more distracted by the lack of detail in the sky. HDR is meant to capture a range of colors that normally cannot be captured in just one shot. Definately bracket next run.

Are you sure this is an HDR image? The dynamic range looks pretty natural, including the aforementioned blown out sky.

I see nothing that makes me think this is an HDR photo. you sure you uploaded the right one? Successfully processed the shot?

you either need to re-process, or reshoot with the shots bracketed further out.

Hi all, Thanks for the comments.

I did set my camera to -2..1.."..1..2+ bracketing took the three shots.
Then i loaded them into a program called Photomatix pro. I will try again next time i am out.

The sky is very light, but not blown out. I can see blue sky and clouds and there is no clipping on the histogram. The image has a soft overall blur which is being caused by using a non-standard pixel aspect ratio. The image can be made much sharper by simply correcting the aspect ratio to 1:1. Non-standard pixel aspect ratios are normally only used for previews and otherwise should be set to unity.

It's difficult to get this right...you need to spend more time tone mapping in photomatix i think. The sky is better in this one though.

You live in Brum? I'm not too far away, down the road in Stourbridge...

Second attempt (post #9) is much better, but everything's blue. As beegeeboy says, just need to keep tweaking the settings. Every HDR package and algorithm is different, and results can vary from image-set to -set, so often it's a trial and error process. Cheers, Tony

Thanks for the input beegeeboy,

I work in the Jewellery Quarter so on my break i take shots of the buildings.
Its a shame has most of the old workshops are being Demolished and new living apartments are built in place of them.

By the way what camera do you own.
