May 10, 2009 20:42 | #5 No telling what an elk will eat in tough times but it's not like there isn't plenty of graze around so I'm not sure what a mouthful of seed does for him. He's a big 'un...his bases are big around and his brow tines are already long. He's a little raggedy and thin but he'll fill out quick. Come fall he'll be up the road in the park fighting for his legacy. John Wayne was right....

Nov 07, 2009 13:27 | #10 thanks.....I think this guy is a pet of the lodge. They have rows of bungalows/cabins for rent and each has a bird/elk feeder in the front yard facing the road. On the way back from the Park we pulled in check out the place. There's a single lane one way asphalt road that runs around each line of cabins. He was laying on the asphalt road in the sun chewing his cud. I drove past him slowly without stopping. I would have hit his rack if I opened my door. He was prolly waiting for them to fill up the feeders again. John Wayne was right....
