hey guys

can anyone confirm this is for the 5d mark II (and not the original)?
http://www.adorama.com/ICABGE6AP.html (external link)

amazon has one by flashpoint, and it seems to be for the original
http://www.amazon.com …ics&qid=1241949227&sr=8-3 (external link)

also, i'm guessing the one in the first link isn't magnesium alloy :(?

Hi, in the description of the product it says:

Description

The Professional Battery Grip for the Canon 5D mark II is powerful and versatile.

For the price I would guess it is plastic!

Interesting that the Amazon website indicates that 76% of the viewers of the cheapy buy the Canon grip.

Not sure you can say it's overpriced if you go for quality to price ratio.

I couldn't spring for the Canon grip yet, so I bought a Meike one off of ebay. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it for the price I paid... If I go on some really rugged shoots in 6-12 months and want a more sturdy grip I might go for the Canon, but for the $100 I paid for it I'm more than happy. I wrote a little mini review here:

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=686597

The first one is for the 5d2, the 2nd looks like its for the original.

I canceled mine and battery too as they informed me another 3 months of delay.. I bought extra studio flash head 300w and other studio flash goodies (beauty dish, stand for backdrop, stand for the flash head) same money.. For now.. hehe! I will buy the extra battery when I feel its necessary... As for the 3d products.. I wouldnt dare to buy a grip. But maybe a cover for my 5d2 instead..

ps: I ordered and paid a grip and battery 2 months ago.. I canceled them yesterday! :) :p

:p I couldnt wait more than that!! :p sorry canon.. :) I was informed that the store I ordered the stuff from, had lots of batteries but as they told me after, other customers had priority..

So I had 2 options, cancel them and get my money back or take something else on that amount. I choose the second option as this store is my dealer and it’s not the best asking full refund if it’s not your fault. Now I got a complete studio kit 3 heads 300/200watt. Time to get some really nice shots with my 5d2(portraits, etc).. :p

the canon one is ~$275

the 3rd party ones are around ~$100

not trying to be a smart A but how does one justify the extra cost when they both do the same exact thing

???

Just to add to my other post,

Lots of the 3RD party ones are great, but in some cases do not have the best build quality,

If the fake ones are 1/2 the price then go for it, but as they say, sometimes the poorman pays twice ;)

Phottix is the best as I have heard,

~Josh ;)
