The color of the Kenko depends upon vintage of the convertor. The year before I bought my Pro 300 DG years ago, they were white; when I bought mine, they were black. Same model, same optics, different cosmetics. I verified with Kenko about color not related to optical design. Since I have a Canon in white and a Kenko in black, I can match the lens that I wish to use it with! The Kenko also has the advantage of not having optics that stick out in front of the mount, so it fits my 100mm (which the Canon 1.4x would not).

Well, I know it is herecy, but the only tcon I found that will fit the 85L :D, is the cheaper, non-reporting Tamron :D. The Kenko won't fit :D.

Kind regards, Wim

Update. I went ahead and got the Tamron SP AF pro 1.4 tc . I have been using it on my 40d and 70-200 2.8 L is outdoors for nature and wildlife. Ater looking at the shots taken with it I can't even tell the thing is on my camera. It works great and I don't see much decrease in image quality.Oh yeah, the white matches the lens perfect:D
