All taken with Canon 40D, Sigma 500mm F4.5 + 1.4x TC, still had to crop :(

Great shots, It must have been pretty far off to have 1120mm fov and this is the crop. You got some great detail under these circumstances.

These are such curious birds.

yeah it was about 40-50ft away I believe, it tried approaching it from different angles but I never got any closer to it

Very nice images, especially the first one. The bokeh really sets off the bird and they are tack sharp. Great work.
