Hello all.
I want to know about the 1Ds Mark 3 vs. the 1Ds Mark 2 and the 1D Mark 3. From what I read and understand the 1Ds M3 is the same as the 1D M3 all but the FF sensor and a few minor tweaks. All the reviews I see only compare the 1Ds M3 with the 1Ds M2 and never to the 1D M3. They both have dual Digi 3 processors right, and the non s has a faster burst rate due to the smaller sensor size. So please someone tell me more about the difference in the two.
Thanks

1d3 is 1.3crop while the 1ds is FF
1D3 is 10fps while the 1Ds (i think is 5fps)
1D3 is around 4K while 1Ds is 8K :)

and im sure there are a lot more difference

All the above are correct.

1Ds has slightly larger prism but a blind man running for his life wouldn't be able to spot it, and it in use the 1Ds viewfinder is larger and brighter.

Pro Body, better autofocus, dual slots, built in grip, battery life, the many custom features that the 1D bodies have. These are not important to many, but once you've started using them ... the 5D2 doesn't come close IMHO

The 5D MKII is an updated full frame 450D and IMO nothing more.

Use a Pro body and you will quickly see the difference, don't let the PIXELS fool you, the 5D MK II is a very nice TOY nothing more.

No offense, but that's a load of bull! There is light years' worth of difference between the starter DSLRs and the 5D line, there is even quite a bit of difference between the starter DSLRs and the xxD series! To call a 5D Mark II a "toy" is... well... stupid!

I have several bodies-- and have been doing some wedding work with a like new 1Ds II -- and in my opinion the results are MUCH beter than other bodies.

I'll continue letting my "toys" pay for themselves, thank you very much!

As to the OP--the question has been answered--the main difference is the 21.1mp FF sensor vs. the 10mp 1.3x sensor, and top speed--1DmkIII is 10fps, 1DsmkIII is 5fps.

Additionally, because of the increased pixel density of the 1DsmkIII, the 1DmkIII has cleaner high-ISOs.... able to go up to 6400, where the 1Ds is limited to 1600 (or can push to 3200, I believe).
