says it holds a pro size (read 1dmk3) with lens, and then a 70-200

well it does, but it is a BEAR to close....is this normal? it seems like when it curves on the front, it is maybe a 1/2 too small to close the zipper easilly.

this may be a silly question but which way are you storing it? I don't have a canon body, but my D700 w/grip and a RRS L bracket attached fit perfect in side ways. which is the same size if not a smidge bigger than 1DMKIII, just checked both body specs.:) (speed racer against my body the prism faces either left or right orientation, not forward or back at your body).

I have mine with a 24-70 attached and the 70-200 in the other side, still have room for a 1.4TC or 85/1.8 in the main compartment. my only gripe is once I have this set up the side mesh compartments are useless especially for a flash. I made mention of this to the Think Tank rep I saw this weekend at Hunts photo. Naturally he wouldnt tell me what was in the works.:(

I had no trouble storing a 70-200 + 24-70 + 1D2 + other accessories when I had my Speed Racer.

You might consider unzipping the top zipper some before zipping up the cover. I know it is a two step process, but it might make it easier.

I'm not sure it is a problem. The only time it is tight to zip is when the body is in the bag. Most of the time the body is in my hand and it is easy to zip up the bag. If I'm using the bag as a holster for the body, the bag is only partially zipped and there is no problem. I guess it is how you plan on using the SR.

I use mine a bit differently, and although it's a bit tight closing it I know nothing is going to be bouncing around in there. Here you see a 100-400L with hood reversed, a lens pouch in which I can keep a 17-40L or 24-105L or Tamrom 28-75, or even my 70-300 DO. Under it is a rain poncho (a cheep one) and 1 extra pad for more protection.

And on top I put my 1 series (with L bracket, grip end up) and a lens as seen, then tuck the strap in & close it up. If I need a flash it goes outside in this configuration.

im not arguing the fact that it fits. im arguing hte fact that its a pita to fit it. I actually have to manipulate various parts of the bags fabric ot get it to close without worrying i will break the zipper. it fits a 70-200, two flashes, 1dmk3 w 24-70 w hood normal(didnt change with it reversed) and a fisheye in the mesh
its a great bag for what i bought it for, but if i paid full price id be kinda pissed.
