On top of the intuitiveness of a pen & tablet, here's an important additional point for you.....

I don't even own a mouse anymore. Reason is that my little Bamboo acts as a mouse without putting my wrist into an uncomfortable position.

I know I'm at risk of problems with my wrists (my mother has had carpal tunnel syndrome in both) but generally speaking, a pen & tablet allows your hand, fingers and wrist to be used at a more natural angle, which over time, could make a MASSIVE difference to you - especially if you do a lot of editing.

See here for the facts:

The pen is far more precise and allows you to work on your editing without putting your are/wrist/mouse at angles that they are not meant to be... you can adjust the brush with the pen or you have not set up the tablet/pen correctly.

If all you do is adjust contrast and sharpen, keep with the mouse
If you are at all creative and wish to use more of photoshop and other Adobe products, get with the Intuos. The brush work is not to be without. Be sure to take the time to set it up correctly. Do some of the tutorials.. I use a 12x10 and would not be without it.

I could never go back to using a mouse. Using a tablet is so much better, in just about every way possible.
On the topic of changing your brush size, it's pretty simple with my tablet. All i do is hold down the alt key, hold down one of the buttons on my pen and move the pen from left to right to increase or decrease the size. Pretty sure this is a new feature of CS4 though.

Advantages of a tablet: More precise, pressure and angle sensitive, faster, mapped to the screen. I wouldn't want to be without one.

It is.
