I think there are a number of restrictions on a student version. I think you have to be a full time student. Can't use it for commercial purposes. Once you finished being a full time student you would legally lose your entitlement to use the product.

Just some of my recollections.

I got both Lightroom 2 and Photoshop from academicsuperstore since I work for the public schools. Had to submit identification for verification. The software is the full version, not a stripped down version. It can be updated as well. I have had great luck with academicsuperstore. You can also buy from journeyed.com if you qualify.

Having a student full or part time residing at the address you wish to ship to is the easiest way to qualify, pretty much you just have to have a kid in the household. I faxed them a copy of a report card and that was it.

Yep, the rules state full or part time student. Will be getting my student ID on Tuesday, and will probably order LR2, and maybe CS4.

Well, back to square one. I tried to get my student ID today, and was told that CE classes do not qualify you to get a student ID because as a CE student, I don't pay all the fees that a normal student does...that stinks.

So, now what I need to know, is does the integration of Lightroom 2 with Photoshop work with Elements, or does it have to be CS4?

I think I'm going to try Discount Mountain Software. They seem to have the best prices, and get pretty good reviews. Saves about $50 instead of buying both LR2 and PSE7 on Amazon, plus there is a $20 upgrade rebate (I have PSE2).

i use lightroom 2 and CS3....but i don't understand what you mean by integration. i open raw files in LR and transport them to CS3 for the finishing touches.

Well, I'm not sure, the product page on Adobe's site says, "Streamlined Photoshop CS4 integration."

I figured it let you do stuff inside of LR, using CS4 or something, and wondered if this same integration was available with Elements instead.

Amazon has LR2 for $260 and PSE7 for $80 at the moment. Is that good?

Well, kind of, but not really.

DMS has LR2 for $218 (full retail) and PSE7 for $85 (full retail) with free shipping. If you have an older version of PS, there is a $20 rebate as well. So if you are buying both, then DMS seems to have the best price.

I have picked up the Adobe CS4 Design suite for only $300 through Journey Ed (I'm a Graphic Design major at the Art Institute). It's a shame that I already own the commercial version of Photoshop CS4.
Academic prices are great.

Got mine yesterday from DMS. These look retail, but are just DVD cases. They do not have UPC codes on them, so I will not be able to get the upgrade rebate on Elements...so I'd buy that from Amazon instead.

Pretty impressed with Lightroom.

How did Discount Mountain Software work out for you. They have
