I'm planing on getting a new computer and I was going to get Vista 64 bit. But with Windows 7, maybe coming out later this year, I was wondering if I should wait.
Of course, it depends on if this one will hold on that long
.
Any thoughts ?

May 11, 2009 13:18 | #2 Personally I would wait if you can for Windows 7, I know some have had absoletuly no issues wih Vista and love it, but most of the ones I know personally have had nothing but trouble to the point of formatting and putting on XP..Windows 7 is what Vista should have been..again its all relative if you cant wait for it to come out EOS 6d, 7dMKII, Tokina 11-16, Tokina 16-28, Sigma 70-200mm F/2.8, Sigma 17-50 F/2.8, Canon 24-70mm F/2.8L, Canon 70-200 F/2.8L, Mixed Speedlites and other stuff.

Don't hold off buying a PC for an OS. The core i7 is still kinda expensive, but core2quad are getting even cheaper. Not sure which i'd buy right now. I wouldn't bet on Windows 7 coming out this year, and even if it did, it would be wise to wait for a few months after that. I don't expect Windows 7 to be out and reliable for another 12 months. Really this one isn't all that bad. As long as you don't watch videos with windows media player, or try to convert raw images !! Hi

I didn't even want to deal with Betas and RCs. For now my system handles the Adobe CS3 Design Suite and PS CS4 beautifully. Chas P

I had XP Pro on my old machine and wanted to keep it on the old machine so I had to get a new OS, plus I wanted to use all 6GB of RAM. I didn't want a Beta OS as my main OS (no support) so I went with Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I don't regret that decision one bit. Things have been pretty smooth. Mike, The Keeper of the Archive

Most everyone I know who bought a comp with Vista pre-installed (including me) has had very few or no problems, especially since service pack 1. I'm running 64bit Vista and 64bit PS-CS4 and LR without any problems. And from all the good reports I'm hearing about Win 7, I'll simply back up and reinstall everything when the retail version is released. Good luck!

I don't know if it's a video card or not. But when I try to convert using RawShooter or LightRoom, it will shut down the program. It will lock up when watch a video, wmp ( I think that's what it's called ) In the widows media player. Flash and QuickTime files work ok. Hi
