Well, after much research, debating, nail biting and stressing I decided on a display. Ordered the NEC LCD2490WUXI-Bk. A bit more than I wanted to spend, but as picky as i am about quality I'm hoping all the great things I've read about this display make it easy to justify.

For those who don't know, I went through 5 or 6 HP LP2475w displays that had color uniformity issues. Finally recieved a full refund for my purchase through HP, and had a good chunk of the NEC's cost taken right off from it. Almost like I saved for 6 months or so for the NEC  Kudos to HP though for the great customer support they have. All the replacement displays were shipped to me overnight, and the fact that they refunded me for a purchase made 5 or 6 months ago speaks volumes of how they do business.

Now on to the NEC display. I have a Spyder3Elite that I already own from when I purchased the HP, and I recently picked up the NEC SpectraViewII software in preparation of picking up an NEC display. I'm correct in thinking that the Spyder3 is compatible with the 2490/SpectraView software? I'm also assuming that I would be much better off using the NEC software to calibrate as opposed to the Spyder software right?

I'm super excited to check this monitor out! Hopefully I'm 100% satisfied and calibration is a breeze...hopefully :p After all the bad luck I've had with those HP units, I'm kind of sick of dealing with monitors haha.

SpectraView's website doesn't have a hardware compatibility chart or list?

Whoops! I was looking on the NEC store site, and they only listed monitors compatible with the SVII software, not colorimeters. Googled SpectraView which brought me to a SV product page, and indeed it lists Datacolor Spyder3 as compatible. Very good.

I was just reading some posts on another forum (external link) and the SpectraView II software was highly recommended.
