I always remember being taught to make a duplicate layer of your original image in PS so that you don't destroy your original. Now when it comes to cloning, if I remember correctly I had a hard time because the clone tool will only clone from the layer you choose. I think there was one or more instance where I was trying to clone something out of the duplicate layer and the original, background, uncloned layer bled through at what looks like a low opacity.
Is there any way to avoid this, or am I going to have to start editing the actual original background layer?
