Has anybody tried to remove the camera model decal off the front of the body? Just wondering how easily it can come off.
(the sticker on the body that would say 'rebel xti' or '5d/markII')

Why would you want to. Im sure its on with some good glue that is going to leave a nice residue behind once gone.

I prefer to leave stickers where they were stuck to; didn't want to deal with residue. Just me.

Yeah, why?

So you can tell everyone that your 40D is really a 5D MKII!

Use gaffer tape to cover it up. It's a lot easier than taking it off, and still hides the camera model.

As to why you would do this, depending on where you take your camera, you might be a lot safer if people didn't know exactly what you were carrying around.

There was a thread a while back where someone wanted to replace an XSi label with a 450D one. IIRC, you can just peel it off and replace it if you want to. Might want to try a search. :)

Do you really think that anyone with the mentality of a thief knows the difference between a Rebel, a 40D or a 1D? If they're going to steal a camera, they're going to steal a camera and it really doesn't matter what kind...

I always wondered if it was even legal to do that.

Do what? Remove the logos from a camera you own? Nothing illegal about it. People do it to custom cars all the time. You can do anything you want to the camera after you purchase it. It's yours...

I know I for one wouldn't have been heart broken if my T1i had been labled 500D lol
