I am getting ready to send of an order for Senior Portraits. I am torn between these two labs. I love them both, but WHCC is more expensive. I usually just use Mpix for small prints and WHCC for larger or gallery wraps.
I have never done a senior package order before, so some feedback from others would be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind you pay for shipping with MPIX. WHCC is free as long as the order is $12. I use both extensively. Mpix is great. I used them all the time. I tried WHCC just for the heck of it about a year ago. Love them too. Little less bold metallic prints which work great for skin tones. But print for print you won't find anything to complain about one vs the other. If the order is quite large it may be cheaper to use MPIX as the cheaper prices will offset the shipping. But no lollipop :) I probably use WHCC mroe now just because the shipping is lightning fast. ALWAYS ave my order in 2 days.

MPIX is great and the print matches my Huey calibration perfectly. The also work in conjunction with Zenfolio so I know what I edit and post to my site is what the customers will get. MPIX has never let me down and for some reason I can't get the color calibration right with WHCC.
You're right though, they are both great companies with great service!
If you can get matched prints from WHCC though, I'd probably lean that way for products YOU order and deliver to your customers.

Great tips, thank you. I wasn't even thinking about the shipping.

We've started using WHCC for everything and are very happy. MPIX has some things that WHCC doesn't so we do still order from them.

MPIX ordering system is a bit easier to use but with patience, WHCC's order system (for books, etc) can be learned.
