Just wanted to report on my latest experience with Canon Repair Service. They have been extremely quick and even repaired my 1999 100-400L at no charge. After the big fix a couple of weeks ago, I had to microadjust all my lenses anywhere from +15 to +20. I thought something was odd, but I went ahead and shot some spring sports with very good results. The only reason I sent the body back was because the 100-400 was not zooming smoothly, and since it is an old lens, I thought I would send it in for an estimate. I also sent in my 580 EX II because it kept shutting down. Low and behold, the body had a loose "C pcb assembly" and it was replaced. They are fixing the 100-400, as well as the flash for free. What excellent customer service!
The only downfall is that they reset all of my custom functions, and that's going to take some time to recover! Next time I'll save them on a card.
