The weather hasn't been all that great lately and I've been getting home late so that's all I've got over the past couple of weeks.....

I hear you man, I'm up north in Highland Park if you know where that is and aside from today I've barely seen the sun all january, and when I have I've been getting home at 5:30 and by that time the sun is down. Good shots of the flowers! I do that too when I can't go outside, find yourself a larger box, buy some white posterboard, and make yourself a lightbox!

Nice Firepod! I have that one aswell, just before they released the one with the LED on each channel telling you the levels. You have any trouble ever syncing it? I was using Adobe Audition 2.0 and that program worked well with it, however SONAR or anything similar took 30 mins plus to sync if it would at all! I've been trying to convince myself not to sell it, but I seriously don't use it, however being a drummer, a two channel interface just isn't enough for effective editing, I use 4 mics at the bare minimum, though I really haven't recorded anything in forever. I will get some shots tomorrow with my lightbox of my gear

I finally broke down and bought a decent Tripod and Ball Head. I bought:

Slik Pro 700DX AMT-Alloy Tripod Legs Only (external link)

And The

Smith Victor BH8 Metal Alloy Ball Head with Quick Release Plate, 40 lb. Capacity (external link)

Man this combo is tall and VERY sturdy!
The pan motion is very fluid, I took some video and you cant make it jerk if you try.
I couldn't be happier :D

Thanks! When I ran a Windows machine I sometimes had a few hiccups. I ran it with Cubase, and it usually was very solid. For the last several years I've been running Apple OSX and using Logic. Apple's support for audio cards and devices is awesome. Just plug it in and it works - never had a problem. I do run a Hackintosh, though (built a PC and then installed Apple OSX on it), so I'm not a totaly Apple fanboy. :D

haha I am definitely an apple fanboy, I am so done with my PC right now (in the last 4 days i've gotten 3, yes 3, blue screens of death, 2 of which being within 10 minutes of eachother) haha! I haven't recorded much lately, not as fun recording drums without a band, haha

took some shots today on a walk!

all taken on my tokina 80-200 f/2.8, pretty harsh lighting conditions for the most part, allowed the AF to be pretty damn fast though for this slow guy! I know flickr doesn't get along with EXIF so i'm not sure if its still intact, just ask if you want to know settings for a certain shot!

The pelican (?) looks very sharp. Nothing wrong with gulls.

Thanks--Let's just say the keeper rate was a little on the low side as I was learning to shoot at 1.4. :)

The 30 was just a little too wide for me, even on the T1i-- I found myself needing to get too close to the subject to get the composition I wanted. The 50 should be a better fit.

It was still sharp when I didn't add sharpening to it, haha. I just wanted everything to be in perfect detail. :D

Back when I lived in the south, me and my hillbilly friends would go seagull hunting.

... Just kidding.
