My grip is the Canon brand.

A grip really adds some good weight/size to the camera, especially if you have bigger hands or want to balance with a larger lens.

Canon grip here as well. I figure that I don't want to skimp quality for my lenses then why skimp on non-genuine accessories? The savings just aren't worth it for myself. And a big thumbs up to having the 500D gripped. Much better feel and balance when the wigma and L are on the front.

Out of curiosity I weighed my 500D w/ grip & 2 batteries along with the 70-200 L. Almost 2 kg (1.8 to be exact)! That's a tad over 4 pounds for all you yankies :)

Could be worse though. It could be a 70-200 2.8 IS...

canon grip here too. i tried an ebay grip before the canon. the ebay grip caused the battery meter to consistantly show "low battery" even with fully charged batteries. returned to seller and bought the canon grip the next day.

My 1D Mark II and 100-400L weigh 1.4kg each for a whopping 2.8kg total or 6 lbs for those who use them. It doesn't feel heavy until I've used it for a few hours, then it seems like pretty good weightlifting exercise.

I like the integrated 'grip' of the 1D but I prefer the T1i without a grip. It is my little Rebel after all...
