SHOKADU, I used a 30 second exposure time, f 4, iso 800 at 15mm on my 15-85... you should give it a shot where you are anyway, I could see maybe 1/5th of the stars that actually showed up on the cameras sensor if not less, it is exposing for 30 seconds, a lot longer than your eye sees so it can pick up those small ones that get by us! P.S. 25 miles away from down town chicago

I'll give it a shot when I'm down in Hawaii next month. Until then, here in Alaska it's still way too daylight to see a night sky. I'm going to have to wait until the late fall season before it's dark enough outside to capture something.

what was your EXIF on the 3rd one that it was able to pick up the meteor?

all of them were about 30 sec. iso 800. 3.5 on the kit lens

by the end of the night i had some serious hot pixels going on

Trying to get ideas for a banner for my college's football site. Just starting to take test shots for it.

@ Taylor - Awesome shot! I'd be proud of that one :)

A bit of a photog's joke, but the way the purple interacts with the bokeh makes that look like the worst CA ever

@ Lisa - LOL! My friend's baby brother years ago used to do the same thing as your youngest and it really led to some hilarious situations. It must be a baby thing

Yeah, thanks guys. The image is a little underexposed too (my fault for not checking the camera). I also lost the golden light with a storm that was rolling in. I'm going to go back on a betting night with maybe a little more light for some more shots.

Might get to the 50 yard line so our purple end zones aren't visible haha.

I think you moved when you press the button (narrow DOF)... the bottle is a bit soft
Static subjects like this... I usually use a tripod and timer.

It is soft. But most of my pics are?? Too much coffee or something!
I'll try it with a tripod.

Really nice set of macro shots chitvan, seems like the Sigma 17-70 is a good macro lens. How well it does with landscapes and portraits?

Thanks Dankata...

ya Sigma 17-70mm is good for close-up...
never tried for landscapes & portraits...as just bought b4 a week...and monsoon is running here....will try it & uploads here...
