Give us those pictures from Greece :). The lens is sharp, maybe you have some front/back focus with the lens.

2 More from Greece..even to a 'shamateur' like me, the light there is just extraordinary. Love the colours in the shop..that's the difference between my Canon and the G1..

Struggling to get these looking good at less than 150kb..any tips folks?

PS Using DropPic to downsize, could that be the problem?

The 500D is basically a scaled down 50D. The 50D is now much cheaper and I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

Does anybody have examples of night club photos?

I have a dilemma, and I would appreciate some advice. I cannot decide whether to buy Canon 50D or 500D? I heard the 50D has more serious banding and noise problems.. Does any of you have problems with that when using 500D? ahh, help! ;)

Derek, if you upload to flickr or imageshack, right click, get a direct link to the picture, then put the link between

More noise at 50D compare to 500D? First time for me. I know 40D has less noise compare to 50D, but I think it because it has less resolution.
50D is much better to 500D, IMHO.

Not a night club, but dark room.

I'll post the original images tonight when I get off work. It was just a fudged HDR attempt. That was about how the sky looked color wise, just got screwed in PP.

Thanks for helping a noob.

Derek, the URL at the top of the flickr page isn't actually the direct link to the picture, for that you will have to right click the photo, go into image properties, and find the direct link

once you have the link type

IMAGE NOT FOUND
Content warning: NOT AN IMAGE

the brackets will go away and the picture will appear if done properly

Right click the Picture on the Flikr page > Go to Properties. Here you will get Image URL or Location. Paste that between the

tags. In your case, right click gave me http://farm5.static.flickr.com …99246644_d8035de9ab_z.jpg (external link) (Note that it ends in jpg) and putting it between the tags gives this:

Here's a couple that I shot after I'm getting more used to the camera.

1) Quick shot of my daughter. I had the camera with Nifty fifty attached and I bent over and shot before she ran away. Too bad it's a little soft.

IMAGE: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4082/4900167692_8d70acfbf5_z_d.jpg

2) Nifty Fifty of my guitar

IMAGE: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4081/4899575307_a72a40234e_z_d.jpg

3) This fourth of July I stood behind my son and took a ton of pictures while fireworks were going off. This one was the coolest of the bunch. Used my 28-105mm USM for this one. I just put it on sport setting and cranked out a bunch of pictures.

Thanks for looking.

With the nifty fifty it is tempting to shoot wide open at aperture f/1.8. However you get very shallow DOF and a lot of image goes OOF and if you are not careful to focus on right areas the effect can be lost.
