Is anyone's copy made in Taiwan? I had to get mine replaced yesterday and the replacement is made in Taiwan and not Japan. The quality is great. It is actually sharper and exposes better than the one I returned. I called Canon this morning as I was a little concerned. I was worried that they just outsourced the manufacturing of the camera and licensed them to stick Canon's name on it. You know, Like the difference between buy a Michelin tire from Sears and buying one from an actual Tire Dealer. The on from Sears is always made cheaper. Canon assured me that it is the same as the one made in Japan. The just have factories in Taiwan as well.

mine says made in Japan but mine also has Kiss X3 badge not T1i ;)

i wouldn't worry about it!

How long ago did you purchase it? When I bought mine a year ago, the kit lens had IS on it. The T1i has multiple names, some say 500D

yeah i thought it was cool to get a Kiss X3 badge doesnt matter to me,bought it 2 months ago from Adorama as a package they didn't send the lens they had listed so i had to wait a week after emailing and then got a straight up 18-55 no is and its a "D" rating which means its not in great shape but works.

no biggie just bought a 50mm F/2.5 Macro off here yesterday!:p

after seeing my bro-in-laws pictures with his D80 with a (24-85 lens-i think) i'm kinda regreting buying this. I hope the different lens changes my mind. for what i have in this setup i could have the same one he has. It just has to be the lens....

Nikon tends to have their equipment a little cheaper. I'm not totally sure why I chose canon a year ago, but one of my good friends had a canon so I guess that's the reason. Anyways. Back to the D80. After moving, another one of my friend's mother had this camera and I was trying to use it about a month ago. I had the most unsatisfying experience of my life (maybe because I use an entry level camera and i'm not use to nikon controls, who knows). A lot of photography is based on the shooter though (yes, the more money you pay, the faster / better your equipment is, but doesn't make your pictures better unless the photographer himself or herself is better).

I have a question about the T1i.

I'm shooting on manual with these settings: 1/500; f3.5; iso 100; L-Jpeg; continuous. Whenever i hold down the button, it doesn't seem like it's continuous. [yes I have brought this up before]
tested this with my iPod stopwatch and here were the times: 0.000 > 0.216 > 0.771 > 1.030 > 1.588 > 1.851 > 2.374 > 2.633 > 3.148 > 3.537 > 3.924 > 4.313 > 4.701 > 5.088 and so on up to like 19.956... If you can't tell the pattern, the shutter sound will clearly explain this if you test it (you won't even need a stopwatch). It would sound like two consecutive pictures with a really short pause, but they would be in couplets. If I shoot raw, this wouldn't be a problem.
BUT if I change the mode to sports, the shutter is continuous, without the couplets sounds, as if i were shooting in raw..

anybody know what the problem is? or if there is one at all?
- did i confuse you with my horrible description? sowwies..
