Hey guys! Got a t1i for Christmas, so haven't had tons of time to play around with it. I took some long exposure shots last night, CC welcomed! They were my first attempt at long exposure.

Here are 2 threads with shots from manual lenses:

Look for M42 adapters and M42 lenses. You can also get an adapter with "Focus Assist" which works really well for me...

You can pick up some real good glass for very reasonable prices on ebay and the likes...

Got a Zeiss Jena 70-210, for $50 approx, with m42 adaptor. The adaptor has some 'contacts' of some sort, so I assume there is some communication going on twixt camera and lens?

However, I'm really not clear on how to use this lens properly on the 500d: can anyone point me to somewhere that explains all about 'M42' work?

Initial reaction is that colours are muted compared to modern lenses, but I actually quite like the 'retro' look this gives.

Lost Tamron Lens Cap and received parking ticket (parking after hours) for taking of this picture at local conservation area with local sky slop at the distance.
Total - 50 bucks. My most expensive photo so far.

Just joined the Kiss3 club and I am beyond stoked. Never thought I could get this excited over a rebel haha. Anyway, hope I can contribute to some of the great shots already here in this thread

I was at Best Buy yesterday just to look around...Then I noticed the nifty-fifty on sale for $100 with only one left in stock...So I broke down and am now a part of the nifty-fifty crowd!

It will be very interesting for me to see how you will find out about difference for AF and high ISO between 500D and 1D MKII.
