It does beep then but not when I fire the flash, even with a remote. Oh well, its not that important.

As for the flash. I.... LOVE.... THE .... 560!!!!! it is absolutely leaps and bounds better than the 460-ii. and blows the vivitar 285 out of the water. The build is just much better than the 460 in every way, you get more power control, you get zooming and a large body flash (it is similar to the 580 EX size). My favorite feature on it however is its beeps. you can turn it on or off, but when on a trigger or hot shoe it will give a double beep quickly when the flash fires, and then once fully recharged it gives a long beep so you know that it is ready to go. This for me at least is really really a nice feature because I don't have to guess on when my flash is recycled and accidentally get shots with the flash not firing because it is still recharged. great flash for the money, I probably will end up selling my 285 and 460-ii for another one!

Oh wow, ill probably pick one up within the next few days then. If i like it enough ill sell my 285 for a 2nd. But why do you like it over the 285? Just the fact that you can set it more specially? Or are there other aspects to your opinion

the beep feature is really nice, also you can set it in single stop increments from 1/1 to 1/128th power, and in between those in 1/8th stop increments (which i probably will never use but it sounds cool....)... that and build quality is soooo much nicer and it is just a better flash. the 285 i had you can only choose 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/16, not enough variation for me and ontop of that the build was meh, recharge time was meh, and it was also a warmer color temperature than my old main the yn460-ii while the 560 matches that making it easier to use more than one flash. its just a better product in my opinion... I just hope i dont have capacitor problems like those shown on youtube

Here's a few of the shots I took today. Felt really good to get out and actually shoot again.

Hi dudes, not been here for a while. By sheer coincidence I have recently bought two YN560's. Jak, all you need to know about it here:

http://speedlights.net …o-yn-560-strobist-review/ (external link)

scroll down the bage a bit and you'll find an explanation of the different standby modes etc.

I really wanted to try some strobin' but being a Scotsman I didn't want to throw money at Canon branded speedlights, after reading everything I could find on the strobist blogspot I realised that I didn't need TTL (I want 'ME' to control the light, not the camera) so after checking out what peeps were saying about the YN560 on speedlights.net and flickr etc I decided to get a couple and use the cash savings on buying a couple of umbreallas, stands etc.

Now that I've had and used them I can firmly recommend them, the manual control you have and the price (fleabay Hong Kong sellers are your cut price friends) of these strobes are frickin awesome. Amyway, enough of this jibber jaabber, her's some recent shots strobin' with the 560's and my T1i

Wow really creative, 2 seems over processed though. it looks like you just bumped up clarity to 100 and brought contrast all the way up.
