I need help with this one. A friend would like a framed print of this, but something just looks off with it. I generally don't like altering photos but it needs something before I have it printed. I think it may be that I focused on the back wall rather than the peacock. Any suggestions? If anyone wants to take a stab at fixing it, by all means go ahead. Just let me know what you did, so I can learn :D

unfortunately the problem is as you said. Its focused on the back wall rather than the peacock. Cant really fix that im afraid. There is only so much unsharp mask can do. Other editing would just teak the colours etc which could help but thats not the main issue....at least to me.

Nice framing/composition though.

Some photos from this past weekend. These are unedited as well, so suggestions are welcome.

Looks good for me. May be horizon and put this big thing vertical?

Glad this little guy stuck around long enough for me to take several photo's. The mama aphid didn't seem to mind but kept a close lookout on her little ones (the little white specks in the middle of the flower).

While this picture/problem probably is lost as the focus was not on the peacock, I do highly recommend that you reconsider your point on altering photos. There are things like white balance, color balance, and contrast that your camera does not always get right. this means that while you think editing may alter what "you actually saw" it most of the time helps the photographer bring the picture to the vision that he saw while composing it. People often assume that because dslr's are more expensive that they will spit out good pictures that have correct white balance on them and such, post processing is a VERY important step in the process of producing photos.

That being said, I also was at the place where I didn't like to alter my photos thinking that they'd be fake and not how the camera also saw it, but it makes it an artistic photo instead of just a snapshot. I strongly suggest just trying to start tweaking little things in your photos such as exposure or contrast just a bit and seeing what you think about editing without going over the top.

p.s. i hope this isn't taken the wrong way, just trying to help! its a nice shot with good composition!
p.p.s. in short what I am trying to say is while there is HUGE importance in getting the composition and focus and DoF right in camera as the picture is being taken, post production can benefit all photographers by helping them express their photo differently than everyone else. it is part of the art of photography and will add your personal little twist to your photographs in subtle ways.

My 70-200 F4 was resting during past winter. I took it outside yesterday to shot some birds behind of our house. Don't know why but they don't want me to get close to them. I have to use cheap Vivitar x2 teleconverter.

IMAGE: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_hdZasF15SMc/TYAqOuKyMbI/AAAAAAAASTQ/VsOtYm5vSEg/s640/IMG_0759.JPG

ISO: 800
Exposure: 1/640 sec
Aperture: 4.0 x2 = 8
Focal Length: 200mm x2 = 400mm

I came back to home with many keepers because AF Servo was working perfect at 70-200 through this cheap teleconverter.
So, I can't justify 1K price difference between 7D and 500D, because Rebel has very good AF for pictures like this.

I'm using YN RF-602 kit, one Remote, two receivers. 60USD.
It is reversible. Receiver on camera or/and on flash.
