Am I the only one that does not think that is much of a deal?

well, if you look at the FS forums, they are going for about 475 shipped (body only) with no warranty and guarantee that the camera will be working well when they get it. At least from Adorama you get 1) a kit lens and 2) 90 days 3) The knowledge that canon has looked over the camera and you will be getting a camera in great working condition as close to new as possible. For an extra $75, that sounds like a pretty good deal to me
you could always sell the lens for $50 making the body $500

30D's have started to become a bit overpriced in our BS forum here on POTN from my perspective. I purchased a MINT 30D from the Fred Miranda forums a few months back for $400 shipped. No way I am paying anyone $500 for a used 30D body only. Clean 20D's are going at times for $250-$350.

Adorama seems to have that priced, to me, at the top of what the equipment may be worth.

Still kicking myself for selling my 20D, spotless like 5,000 actuations for $275 when I got my 5D, making my 40D the new backup.

I'm picking up a 20D for a friend this weekend for $200. 3,000 actuations, has the Error 05 on flash which doesn't matter when you don't use the onboard flash.

I agree, $550 for a 30D isn't that hot. If you drive a hard bargain, you can probably find a 40D for $100-$150 more.

I have had a bad experience at Adorama. Personally, I wouldn't buy anything from them.

You should contact Helen, shes a member here on POTN, she works for Adorama and im sure she can straighten out any issues you may have.

Personally, I dont like to go into Adorama, some of the guys on the floor treat you like you are annoying them or something, and to be honest, I dont like to be treated like that when I got $1500 in my pocket ready to be dropped on a camera, so I go to B&H, but sometimes the prices at Adorama are just much better so I have no choice but to buy from them.

I just bought a second 30D for $400 off local craigslist. Saw a few 20D's for $300 as well.

I see what you guys mean... this turned from a "I found a Deal you guys may like" to a "Our BS forums are overpriced" thread real quick, and to be honest, I see what you guys mean.

I've been looking to get a decent 40D for a while now, nothing to crazy, just something in descent shape, just something to sorta "backup" my XSI, and yes, I do preffer my XSI because it is nice and compact, but the prices on the BS forums are crazy. I think i saw some guy asking 800 for a 40D body only and I think to myself, thats like $250 more then that camera should be going for right now, but who am I to judge, they paid their money, they can ask what they like

Time to go to craigslist to find a deal :)

I bought my used 30D from my wedding photographer for $450 Canadian as he upgraded to 5DmkII and needed to unload some of his old stuff. I don't think $550 is too bad of a deal, if you sell the kit lens for $50. But converted from $USD to $CAD it's more then I'd be willing to spend. Rather spend the little extra on a used 40D.
