I have had a battery for my 5D 11 on order from Adorama for about 6 months--still out of stock. Anyone know where I can get an LPE6? I am tempted not to get one, since the original lasts for about 800-1000 shots, but probably should just in case of battery failure.

Really? 6 months? The 5D MKII hasn't even been out for 6 months.

B&H has them in stock right now. (external link)

I got my 5D MK 11 in Dec. 2008. This is May 2009--you do the math.

People have received them from Adorama, so either you're being screwed or you haven't had them ordered since Dec.

When I received my 5Dm2, it totally dawned on my that there were be a shortage on batteries. So I've since purchased the battery grip and use AA batteries as my primary power source.
