Can this be used on older Canon lenses and third party lenses?
Don't have a clue about these things.

Thanks,
Tom

the Canon TCs can generally only be used on L primes greater than 135mm [135L, 200L, 300L, 400L, 500L, 600L, 800L, 1200L] as well as some of the L zooms [All the 70-200mm ones and the 100-400]

This is because the rear of them is recessed to take the elements sticking out on the TC design

Thank you. Then I guess the next question is are there any TC's that can be used on the older Canon lenses and third party lenses?

What lens in particular are you thinking of using one on?

The Kenko 300 Pro works with every lens pretty much

Also cheaper than the Canon and performs VERY close to it

It can be used on some older and third party lenses (SIGMA in particular)

The complete list of Canon lenses, old and new can be found in our Teleconverter FAQ

But if older and 3rd party lenses are you intended use, your better off going with Kenji's suggestion of the Kenko.

I have a Canon 70-210 F4 and a Promaster 70-300 F4.5-6 that I would like to get some extra reach on.

Thanks for all the responses.
Tom
