Hi, I need advice regarding Canon 17-55mm. Somebody is selling me $780.00 with Hood and some dust inside the glass and one is $848.00 with hood and Tiffen UV filter but it is clean no dust. which one should I get. Help please need to buy it tonight and use by the w.end. One more thing, should I be concern about some few specs of dust inside hte glass or I don't need to worry about it?Thanks!

I have dust. It does nothing. However the price is very close. Do either have warranty? don't let dust disuade you.

I'd spend the extra $68 for the warranty and no dust if there's a good amount of time on the warrant still. Otherwise don't worry about the dust. I have some specks on my 40D's mirror that are visible through the viewfinder. Bugged me at first but now I don't even see them.

I'd get the one with the Warranty, but I'd insist on the sales receipt as well. You need the sales receipt if you send the lens in for any kind of repair while its under the warranty.

If there is a 17-55 without dust, it will have dust soon. As mentioned, dust will not harm the photos. Both are fair prices, but I'd personally go with the one with a warranty.

Enjoy the 17-55!!

Thanks guys! I'm very happy with the purchase. I ask for the $848.00to be lowered to $780.00 plus Hoya HMC SUPER Multi-Coated UV Filter instead of Tiffen and plus original hood. Tried it and it is great. Now i gotta to have a prime lens maybe Canon 85mm 1.8, but first, I need to sell my the Canon 28-135mm so I can have a budget for the prime lens. Again thank you for advices and your time.

85 1.8 is a killer sharp lens and easily bought used

might consider a 70-200 f4 L though for longer reach at maybe 200 more than the 85 1.8

wants for Ls :D , now have 400do;500f4is,600f4 :cool: off to birding and airshows:):):)

You can easily clean off the mirror with a blower or lens cloth, without messing anything in the camera up.

Just take you lens off and blow the dust out, then you really won't see them.
