BearLeeAlive wrote in post #8010452 Totally had it pictured in my mind. Very nice Robert, we hardly even get to see lighting, it is always hidden by clouds and rain. :p thomascanty wrote in post #8010576 The last place I'd want to be during a thunderstorm is on a mountaintop! In fact, a lot of the mountains around here have these signs near the summit: Not even laying flat on the ground with a pile of metal about 30 feet away from you higher than your body? sevillafox wrote in post #8010745 Me two!!! Holy moly...bleeding toes monkeygirl wrote in post #8011111 I am off to get ready for work. Our education department was nice enough to us to book 50 school groups to visit today, so I told my boss I could come in for a couple of hours to help get the little monsters (and their kids) in. FAFA - you are excluded from that comment. The teachers book their field trip during the busiest time, and then show up unprepared (number of kids and number of adults) and expect to get in within 10 minutes, and get made at us when they don't because they are not ready. (sorry about the rant) Good luck with that. Should get the education department to help also. cfpackerfan wrote in post #8011253 YAY! Congratulations Bobby!!! Thanks Cat. Belmondo wrote in post #8011326 Had a lot of fun yesterday, but all that walking/sightseeing did wear me out. We had lunch at The Grill on the Alley, and our server was saying that within the last week, he had served Tom Hanks and Jerry Seinfeld in the very booth in which we were sitting. We ended up at the Beverly Hills Hotel for high tea at the Polo Lounge, and saw Valerie Bertinelli as well as a whole gaggle of familiar looking people. Our server told us that Nicole Kidman had reservations, but was a no-show. I tend not to be impressed by celebrity, but my wife and her friend were in 7th heaven. I was impressed by the lineup of cars in valet parking at the Beverly Hills Hotel....lots of Bentleys, Lamborghinis, Rolls Royces, etc. Our bug-splattered Lexus was definitely out of its element. We did see the paparazzi in action... I don't know who the celebrity was, but there was a big black Bentley parked outside the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, and there were about 20 guys jockeying for position, all of them with cameras and video equipemnt. I was reminded of circling vultures. We didn't stick around to see who they were waiting to ambush, but we'll probably see it in the Enquirer next week. The women did a little shopping.....saw a dress for $10,200 that looked like a big ball of lint and used dental floss. Just a nice day. Sounds like a day my wife would like to do. cfpackerfan wrote in post #8011503 It's funny, your story about sitting in Jerry Seinfeld's booth at the restaurant is timely. Yesterday, we were having the Yukon worked on, and while sitting in the waiting room, were watching TV. There was a Seinfeld rerun on, and it was the one where George buy's Jo(h)n Voight's car and is SO excited about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm2iNNqj2fQ Great episode. Belmondo wrote in post #8011694 The funny part is, we were sitting in the lounge, and everyone coming and going from the restaurant had to pass right by where we were sitting. Lois and her friend were sitting on a banquette against the wall, and I was sitting across from them on a chair facing the wall. They could see everyone from their vantage point, while I could only see them (I had the best view, IMHO). It was almost funny seeing their reactions as the various people passed back and forth, but not nearly so funny as their efforts to get me to turn around and stare. I absolutely refused and spent the bulk of my time eating (that's what we were there for), and checking my iPhone for messages. The aura of self-importance was heavy in the air yesterday. Those are some very entitled people. Oh you know you were using the iPhone screen as a mirror to look behind you. cfpackerfan wrote in post #8011960 I just added 3 TB external storage space to my computer.
