Hola folks....had a short nap after the festivities...was nice. No cap and gown though. Instead, kiddos released balloons into the sky in the school colors...weird.

Very slimming though.

Totally had it pictured in my mind.

Very nice Robert, we hardly even get to see lighting, it is always hidden by clouds and rain.

:p

We get some like that also....I usually have 5 keepers and about 90 lit up clouds. I don't have a lightning trigger so I have to keep pushing the shutter button.

The last place I'd want to be during a thunderstorm is on a mountaintop! In fact, a lot of the mountains around here have these signs near the summit:

Not even laying flat on the ground with a pile of metal about 30 feet away from you higher than your body?

Me two!!! I tried once....with film....epic fail.

I could never do it with film...I got one out of one roll. Wife was mad when I developed it.

Oh, and on Wool's subliminal suggestion to get others to post, Permie's unfounded fear of us getting tired of dog shots, and Terri posting the altered Garrison quote, I think it should be post your "Exceptional Pets Day". So post and post often...

Funky lookin fetch stick

I am off to get ready for work. Our education department was nice enough to us to book 50 school groups to visit today, so I told my boss I could come in for a couple of hours to help get the little monsters (and their kids) in. FAFA - you are excluded from that comment. The teachers book their field trip during the busiest time, and then show up unprepared (number of kids and number of adults) and expect to get in within 10 minutes, and get made at us when they don't because they are not ready. (sorry about the rant)

Good luck with that. Should get the education department to help also.

Had a lot of fun yesterday, but all that walking/sightseeing did wear me out. We had lunch at The Grill on the Alley, and our server was saying that within the last week, he had served Tom Hanks and Jerry Seinfeld in the very booth in which we were sitting. We ended up at the Beverly Hills Hotel for high tea at the Polo Lounge, and saw Valerie Bertinelli as well as a whole gaggle of familiar looking people. Our server told us that Nicole Kidman had reservations, but was a no-show.

I tend not to be impressed by celebrity, but my wife and her friend were in 7th heaven. I was impressed by the lineup of cars in valet parking at the Beverly Hills Hotel....lots of Bentleys, Lamborghinis, Rolls Royces, etc. Our bug-splattered Lexus was definitely out of its element.

We did see the paparazzi in action... I don't know who the celebrity was, but there was a big black Bentley parked outside the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, and there were about 20 guys jockeying for position, all of them with cameras and video equipemnt. I was reminded of circling vultures. We didn't stick around to see who they were waiting to ambush, but we'll probably see it in the Enquirer next week.

The women did a little shopping.....saw a dress for $10,200 that looked like a big ball of lint and used dental floss.

Just a nice day.

Sounds like a day my wife would like to do.
Wonder how my pickup would fare there in the midst of Bentleys, Lamborghinis and Rolls Royces.

cfpackerfan wrote in post #8011503 (external link)
It's funny, your story about sitting in Jerry Seinfeld's booth at the restaurant is timely. Yesterday, we were having the Yukon worked on, and while sitting in the waiting room, were watching TV. There was a Seinfeld rerun on, and it was the one where George buy's Jo(h)n Voight's car and is SO excited about it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm2iNNqj2fQ (external link)

Great episode.

Belmondo wrote in post #8011694 (external link)
The funny part is, we were sitting in the lounge, and everyone coming and going from the restaurant had to pass right by where we were sitting. Lois and her friend were sitting on a banquette against the wall, and I was sitting across from them on a chair facing the wall. They could see everyone from their vantage point, while I could only see them (I had the best view, IMHO). It was almost funny seeing their reactions as the various people passed back and forth, but not nearly so funny as their efforts to get me to turn around and stare. I absolutely refused and spent the bulk of my time eating (that's what we were there for), and checking my iPhone for messages.

The aura of self-importance was heavy in the air yesterday. Those are some very entitled people.

Oh you know you were using the iPhone screen as a mirror to look behind you.

unggh it's hot here today.

I'm taking advantage of the boy's absence and vacuuming and mopping (the hardest things to do with them underfoot). But man oh man we don't have the AC units in so it's hot as can be (okay it's only 89F but it feels HOT) especially when working.

I hear that Lisa. I put the air conditioners in when I woke up and now the back is NOT happy. At least the pooches and the daughter will be happier with a cooler house.

There is a bit of friendly competition between NY and PA over bologna....

NY has Croghan bologna...only made by the Croghan Meat Market...but offered for sale at a few specialty shops around the state...
http://croghanbologna.com/ (external link) and
http://www.adirondackcheese.com/croghanbologna.aspx (external link)

and PA has Lebanon bologna....made in a few more places....but Seltzer's is pretty much recognized as the best.
http://www.seltzerslebanonbologna.com/ (external link)

The tastes are very different....but both are excellent and are way better tasting, smelling and looking than the stuff Oscar Meyer calls B-o-l-o-g-n-a!

As a kid I could not stand bologna. Later I understood that it was because all my mom bought was oscar meyer. I got to sample some of the more local brands like Bobecks here in chicago and what a difference.

I hope it clears for the weekend. We are so soggy that many farmers still have not put in their corn and beans.

G'morning. I skipped going to the beach today with Dan, Chris, Kona and Maggie.

I talked to Dan a little bit ago and he said somehow Kona figured out how to open his backpack and bite through a 2 litre bottle of water. Fortunately (since they were in Chris's car) most of the water went into the backpack. Chris pulled over and they cleaned it out. Took a lot longer to get to the beach though. Now you know why we have bars in our jeep

Someone is in trouble...

Thanks everyone for your comments on my new lens/fleurs.

Sorry I removed most of the pet photos due to the majority but...

He's beautiful. He's got some of the best lines I've seen on a lab.
btw...did you get my rambling phone message yesterday?

I haven't seen it. What sort of a dog is he.

hahahaha ah why not?
