Thanks JJ...and glad I could offer some peace of mind...so to speak. I think we all worry about our kids and the military...it would be a wonderful world if everyone just got along, shared what needed sharing and let bygones be bygones....unfortunately, every society has misfits, malcontents, criminals and general all around bad people....so there will always be a need for police officers and soldiers, sailors and airmen.

I'm nervous and scared. Just found out son #2 (kid #3 not including fur kids) just joined up with the Air Force. He's swearing in Thursday. He's been thinking about it for a while and went through the process last year. He tested high, passed the various other tests and such, but put off the decision until he had a couple of years of college under his belt. He just finished his first year in college and decided to not delay it any longer. He says he want's to get into the medical field and feels this is his best option to do so. Dang.. I wish he would have waited.. Sorry for the rant.. I'm babbling.

I understand the nervous and scared....but don't forget proud.

I always liked that picture. I remember it from when you went down there and saw the two goofs:lol::lol:.

I suck at it, in comparison to Dan!

All I do is focus on them and make sure the background is complimentary. In this case, I just used a black mounting board jammed into the fence behine the roses.

I don't know if that would help. I think it's the very low humidity here that makes water evaporate really fast.

Besides, I need to be humbled periodically. No better way than scrubbing toilets on your hands and knees.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Water softener helps a lot. It replaces calcium ions with sodium ions. Calcium is almost impossible to dissolve. Sodium dissolves much easier. I have Illinois well water. Unsoftened from the faucet I can stack it like lumber it's so hard. The water softener does wonders especially to fixtures.

Have to agree with the Chief here, JJ. Of course having been in the Air Force sways me a bit. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to stay in as a career.

And I was just thinking....gee Pete had to go and post those beautiful roses and make my shots look like crap. I sit here and look at these shots on a big monitor while editing....they look sharp, well focused and composed...and then I post them and wonder what the hell happened to that nice shot. Compression has killed a few of my shots...but your roses look stellar Pete. Sid has posted some lovely ones too. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh....perhaps we really are our own worst critics...or maybe I really do post crap!
