I hate school lunch in May. They get really cheap. Today's lunch cost me $3 and I had a nasty faux-grilled preformed chicken chunk on a bun.

yuck.

Cause you never dealt with your anger. Here, lay down on the couch. Take this pillow and smack it around if the feeling arises.

Our cafe at work has been getting worse with each successive reduction. Not that the cafe folks are leaving but there are far fewer people to take advantage of the cafes offerings. The prices have gone way up and the quality gone way down. Today had chicken bites, 8 of them, cold fries and hot cold slaw all for 5 bucks.

By my count I'm about 2,000 posts behind (spanning two threads). I don't know if I'll ever have time to catch up, so I only went back a few pages...

Nada. It's a very quiet Monday here. We did have a small earthquake last night, and it even made the paper. I guess they felt it a lot stronger over in Los Angeles.

Meh... It was a 4.7. That wouldn't even wake me up.

Belmondo wrote in post #7942496 (external link)
Yeah, but just barely. 4.7 just doesn't get much attention around here. Lonnie probably felt it, although he's not much closer than I am to the epicenter. I suspect people in West Los Angeles felt it pretty good----it was within a couple miles of the L.A. International Airport.

Nope. Lonnie didn't feel it. Didn't even phase my critters. There's this really big mountain range between me and the epicenter. It's a great shock absorber. I wonder if I woulda even felt the Northridge quake out here. Since I moved to Palmdale I've only felt one quake and that one was somewhere here in the desert between you and me.

Oh, I forgot....

Can someone please explain this flat stanley nonsense?? I've never heard of it before.

Now that a few people have explained Flat Stanley to you, try to figure out who Flat Cat and Flat Athena are... ;)

DoodleBunz wrote in post #7942569 (external link)
And that, my friends, is why I've got no desire to be in Cali for any length of time, at all. Nooooooooooooooo thanks.

Awww, don't let them scare you. Earthquakes are so overrated. The media blows everything so out of proportion! The big ones that cause a lot of damage are very rare. The small ones, like yesterday's, can almost be fun...

Should I worry that Lonnie's avatar is currently Dot?

What's wrong with Dot?

Neil, here's the link.

you just paste your photo in the http line.

Well, that takes all the fun out of doing one of those...

I work at a hospital. I haven't even been to the cafeteria in years. I eat at home before work and bring something with me to snack on while I'm there...

We used to play with it when we were kids, and nobody thought anything of it. When we lived in San Jose, there was a park near our home that had been a quicksilver mine at one time.

And see? you're alright now. :D

I don't think it causes DNA damage. It sort of makes you crazy.

That explains a lot.

A heart worthy story. And what became of the jars? Still next to the phermeldahyde jars with dead goodies in them?

Always fun to go to the vet with the dog when I was a kid. They'd always have some preserved animal organ on display in the exam rooms. The freakiest was the heart complete with heartworms.

Heh ... Kids have it so good these days with school lunches. Back when we were kids, you'd be lucky if there was any chicken in the chicken nuggets.

Heh. And it's the same stuff they feed the patients. My grandmother was a hospital cafeteria worker at one point..

Usually I do as well. Today I got a late start and did not pack a breakfast of lunch so it was cafe time for me.
