Here's me, on full frame. Obviously, it'd be 1.6x closer on my 30D, but that's not very useful.

Sigma 15mm Fisheye. The black frame is the area of the telephoto image, just to spot where it is:

Here's mine.
17-40 at ƒ/5.6 for 1/40s
70-200 2.8 USM at ƒ/2.8 for 1/250s
Both were shot in RAW with very little editing. No sharpening, just a little saturation.

Interesting addition in that an enclosed space demands at the very least, a wide-angle lens, which makes me think that the "one lens does it all" solution should not be acceptable any more. Honestly, I feel Canon should stop doing the kit lens solution.

Here are two more from Saturday night:
Trevi Fountain, Rome
Tokina 11-16 @11mm 1/50 f/3.2 ISO 1600
Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 IS @195mm 1/15 f/3.2 ISO 1600 (I must have bumped the zoom from 200 to 195 when I put it down for the shot)

Mike - great additions again. Shame you were only in Rome for 24 hours though.
:(

Hey Jordan, love the black box! That's so useful to help see the difference.
Thanks for adding.

I did "cheat" a little in that I used my Xsi for the 10mm and my 40D for the 400mm, and they weren't taken in the exact same spot ;)

Even though I started the thread, knowing what to expect, I still keep going, "WOAAAAHHHH!!!!" when I see the differences we're capable of with our lovely little dSLRs! As Bryan says....keep 'em coming!

No worries with the "cheat"....it's the "not moving your feet" and "don't crop" that are really important.

Taken yesterday at the top of the Empire State Building NYC. No tripods allowed and ignorant people pushing and shoving. Not great shots but taken for this thread.

Camera 40D.
#1 17-55mm @ 17mm
#2 70-300mm @ 300mm

Red box in #1 to show where #2 was aimed.

Thanks....it just occured to me while eating my lunch that to really see what our lenses do, someone needs to take a photo without moving their feet.

Can't say thank you enough for coping with pushing and shoving people on top of the Empire State Building, in order to help POTN members understand better the extremes of what our gear can do....next challenge for you is to get a 10mm lens up there!!!
;)

:lol::lol::lol:

I actually think that a 10mm pointing downwards from that location should create an amazing shot with stunningly distorted buildings.....
.......whereas a 1200mm just makes me think "peeping Tom, looking for office workers 'at it' during their lunchbreak!!!!"
;)
