So with the recent prices increases at B&H and Adorama, I decided to look elsewhere for this years purchases. Based on some recommendations on this forum, I looked at Roberts Imaging. And wow am I glad I am. Just to give you a taste.

www.robertsimaging.com (external link)

B&H Price -> Roberts Price
Canon 50 1.4 $399 -> $325
Canon 100 Macro $525 -> $490
Canon 17-40 $749 -> $700
Canon 16-35 $1499 -> $1450
Canon 70-200 2.8 IS $1799 -> $1699

*note, these prices are before rebates.

And the list goes on. And the one item that made me jump for joy!!! Roberts has Canon LP-E6 for $74.95 (In Stock I might add) while B&H has them for $94.95 and out of stock.

While I'm not saying that everything at Roberts Imaging is lower priced than B&H but there was enough there to catch my eye. Maybe they haven't gotten the memo from Canon to raise their prices yet :)

After spending over $10K at B&H previously, I decided to try Roberts Imaging this time. In the process I saved $100 over B&H buying the same things from Roberts.

Now, I know the first thought is "well they must be another one of those scam Brookly stores". Before I ordered I researched them and found they had great reviews from members on this forum. I also actually called them up and talked to a nice lady to make sure the prices on the web site were legit. I placed my order this morning and already got an email with the shipping number. We'll see how it goes.

Yes I've ordered lots of stuff from B&H and been very happy. I'm not anti B&H. I'm not trying to encourage you to stop buying from them. But money is money, and in a down economy, while I like good customer service, I also like having $100 more in my pocket.

Absolutely! I've been praising them on here ever since I first walked in their store and dealt with them. They didn't have a 50d in stock the day I went in to purchase one so they loaned me one free of charge until the shipment arrived, then they gave me the 70-200 2.8 $200 rebate 3 weeks or so before it was actually announced. That's where I've bought most of my gear from and I think there great. They are located in Indianapolis, IN. btw

Oh, they have a 14 day return policy on gear as long as you have the receipt, I decided I did not want the 50d and I exchanged it for a 40d with no hassle whatsoever and the same day they knocked $50 bucks off a Tamron 17-50 lens for me:)

There's a reason they have been around for 50+ years...awesome service, even for a pain in the ass like me;)

David,

Thanks for the link and recommendation. Nice to have a back-up source, and who knows, maybe this will work into a primary one.

Times like this you just gotta love this forum for the info and advice. Where were we without the internet?

Appreciate another source to get my stuff. Usually, Adorama and B&H are difficult to beat in prices and shipping cost. Yea!

I just ordered a 100mm Macro lens from them this morning. Unfortunately, I have not yet received any indication that the lens was shipped today. I am kind of disappointed because I was hoping to get it Monday. I have to remind myself that B&H can take a day or two to process an order also. Still, I had the idea for some reason that they would ship on the same day. I had to pay about 15 dollars standard UPS shipping whereas B&H would have been free shipping, but I still saved money in that the price was about 35 dollars lower in the first place. Both Roberts and B&H offered the instant rebate, but the Roberts price was lower to begin with.

I ordered a 50D body only $999.97 and a battery grip from them this afternoon, and received and e-mail with a tracking number that they were shipped just a few hours later. I should have it Tuesday. Signature required ! I hope the big brown truck comes later when I'm home.

That would be a bit difficult given Roberts is located in Indianapolis. ;)

I've been to Roberts main store in downtown Indy several times. Nice place with good selection of gear; lots of bags too.

Gear: Kodak Brownie and homemade pin-hole cameras. Burlap sack for a bag.

Another one is theimagingworld either via ebay or their website. The 70-200 is $1499 on the website and $1539 on ebay, with live.com cashback.

I just pulled the trigger on this lens this morning. Instant cashback rocks!!! :D

I dont think their online stock system works very well, I ordered a pair of lenses from robertsimaging, and they where out of stock on one even thought it said online that it was in stock. The price was right so I kept it on backorder until they get another one

I would always call first before ordering from anyone online just to be sure that the item is in stock.

I don't know if I was at their main store but I visited a location of theirs in Indy and got my Think Tank Bazooka there, definitely seemed like a pretty nice place.
