I ordered a 50D body and bg-e2n grip on Friday the 15'th early afternoon from Roberts. I received it yesterday . It was packed very well and in great shape! When I placed my order I did it by phone to make sure it was in stock. Everyone I talked to was very friendly and helpful. I will order from them again! Oh yeah, I got the body and grip for the same price as most places wanted just for the 50d body. Well, time to go shoot some ducks with the new 50D.

Roberts is my hometown camera shop, living here around Indianapolis. They are a fairly small mom & pop shop with two locations in Indy and excellent pricing. Usually better pricing than B&H and places like that. You can order from them in confidence, and they are an authorized dealer for most all major brands, Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc.

Just wanted to update this. I placed my order (via the website) on Friday. The order was shipped on the following Monday, and I received my items today. I order a 17-40 and 2 LP-E6 batteries, and I saved close to $100 over buying the same items from B&H. All items were packged very well, and I'm one happy camper. I will certainly buy again from Roberts. I may now demote B&H to my backup if Roberts doesn't have what I need.

I'm still amazed that Roberts is selling the LP-E6 batteries for $20 LESS than B&H is, and Roberts actually has them in stock while they are backordered at B&H!

Love Robert's. Been going there since I was little. They keep a rather large inventory and hire people that know what they are talking about. The website isn't as "fancy" as some other places like B&H but I'd never question calling them up and ordering something, they haven't steered me wrong yet.

If Roberts were to upgrade/update their website to be on par with the Adorama and B&H sites I would consider ordering from them.

Is it that bad?

I guess I should go check it out. For me, if I knew what I wanted, unless it was really crappy and difficult I wouldn't care.

It's not really bad per say, but it doesn't necessarily inspire confidence when thinking about entering my credit card info into it.

Ditto to this minus the grip!! :cool:

They even seperated the kit lens because I was lookin for the body only. The shipping I was charged was right on point with what it cost them to send it priority!! Placed the order Friday, camera in hand Tuesday as well as about $150 extra (if I had went through B&H) :cool:

Authorized Canon dealer as well!! Can't beat it!!

So with the recent prices increases at B&H and Adorama, I decided to look elsewhere for this years purchases. Based on some recommendations on this forum, I looked at Roberts Imaging. And wow am I glad I am. Just to give you a taste.

www.robertsimaging.com (external link)

B&H Price -> Roberts Price
Canon 50 1.4 $399 -> $325
Canon 100 Macro $525 -> $490
Canon 17-40 $749 -> $700
Canon 16-35 $1499 -> $1450
Canon 70-200 2.8 IS $1799 -> $1699

*note, these prices are before rebates.

And the list goes on. And the one item that made me jump for joy!!! Roberts has Canon LP-E6 for $74.95 (In Stock I might add) while B&H has them for $94.95 and out of stock.

While I'm not saying that everything at Roberts Imaging is lower priced than B&H but there was enough there to catch my eye. Maybe they haven't gotten the memo from Canon to raise their prices yet :)

After spending over $10K at B&H previously, I decided to try Roberts Imaging this time. In the process I saved $100 over B&H buying the same things from Roberts.

Now, I know the first thought is "well they must be another one of those scam Brookly stores". Before I ordered I researched them and found they had great reviews from members on this forum. I also actually called them up and talked to a nice lady to make sure the prices on the web site were legit. I placed my order this morning and already got an email with the shipping number. We'll see how it goes.

Yes I've ordered lots of stuff from B&H and been very happy. I'm not anti B&H. I'm not trying to encourage you to stop buying from them. But money is money, and in a down economy, while I like good customer service, I also like having $100 more in my pocket.

This is a great store, not the best website on the internet but the people are very helpful and their prices, as you've already seen, are more than competitive

Roberts will also occasionally let you haggle with them a bit on pricing, unlike B&H or the others. It depends on the item, often they're selling at their lowest margin anyway.

I will agree they're a great place to do business with, I usually talk to Dawn when I buy stuff from them. Also, for me they're close enough that even UPS ground reaches me the next day.

Remember, if these price increases are from the manufacturers, then eventually they're going to trickle down to all of the resellers, at this time Roberts may well still be working with existing stock that was purchased at lower costs to them.

Fyi. Roberts price for the 50D body only went up to 1099.97 yesterday. Still $100 off list. I guess Canon price increases got to them. I would like to have ordered from them but procrastanated too long. Now they are about equal to Amazon when you add in shipping.

Ha, thanks for this. Going to get a 50mm 1.4 next month, I can get it cheaper from them than most people are selling in the POTN marketplace. :P
