I had had the err 99 message a couple of times during a 600 photo shot a week ago. Now I'm out of town on vacation and it won't take a single picture without the err 99 message.

Is there a place to rent a body near Jacksonville Beach?

Does it give you the error with every lens?

I get that message all the time on my 75-300 if I zoom past 200-250.

Have you tried cleaning the contacts?

Have you tried cleaning the contacts?

And you did remove both batteries, right?

It happens with my 70-200 and the 50. I didn't know about the second battery until I called canon. They had me remove any lens and both batteries and the card. They had me put both batteries back in and no card no lens and try it. I still got the message. They said I have to send it in.

I sent my camera to Canon. I got an estimate to repair it for $201.40. I didn't see on the estimate where they listed what they had intended to repair. So, I called Canon to ask what they planned to fix for that price. The lady said they won't know what the problem is until they got into it. She said something to the effect that they would bring it back to factory specs, clean and lube it. There was a disclaimer that stated if in the unlikely event that liquid, sand... were found inside or the unit was abused the price could go up.

I guess I should be happy with the price as I expected the cost to be $300-$350. That was based on what I had read here. The part I don't understand is why they didn't tell me it would be $201.40 before I shipped it to them?

I know this is probably a bit late, but I'm from JAX, and have to get all my rental stuff from Orlando. This place sucks. We only have one decent lab around here and not much else.
