I have recently noticed specks of dust under the surface of the LCD screen on my 50D, has anyone else ever had this problem and could it be cleaned under the Canon Warranty?

I've had that on my 40D, almost from new. I would argue that it should be fixed by Canon under warranty but I could never be bothered to chase it up. Basically the protective cover you can see and touch is stuck down around the edges with double sided tape. I guess somewhere the sticky bit isn't sticking. It doesn't affect the images and is not very severe. My 40D is now 20 months old and I'm still not really bothered by a few dust specs.

If it bothers you then by all means take it back to the shop or send it off to Canon. For me personally that seemed like more hassle than it was worth.

Someone else on another forum had that problem. Just take it back and return/exchange it since it is a manufacture defect.

I just brought my 40D to the local Canon Repair Center in Irvine, CA for the same dust problem in the LCD. They cleaned it out at no charge for me and I was just over 2-months outside of the 1-year Canon factory warranty.

Now I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed and hope the dust problem does not come back.
