My 1dMKIII was away for the third recall last month! All seems well but this new advisory has me thinking if Canon would have attended to this with the recall units.

Are you talking about the latest too much lube on the mirror box issue?

Do you HAVE or NOT the problem?

...Have you sent your cam for the sake of sending it or have you experienced each and every one of the problem descriptions presented by Canon?

...Do you see oil residues on your sensor? Have you brushed them with a pec-pad and verify for oil-consistency?

You don't even have to look for grease marks on your sensor. Just remove the lens, and look at the mirror box. It will be obvious if it has too much lube. If it does, use a PEC pad and remove it yourself.

Interesting about anything being wrong ("if it ain't broke, don't fix it") could be good, could be bad, my friend who bought one of the earlier MKIII's didn't get one with the bad serial numbers and still uses the original firmware and that camera is perfect.

I believe mine just came from the factory so I'm not worried, and I can't quite tell from the photo what I'm looking at.

I've no symptoms, maybe I should rephrase:

Has Canon introduced a NEW problem AFTER the 3rd MKIII recall fix?

The latest issue is the too much lube issue, the previous one was the replacement of some parts for the AF, which everyone seems to have praised.

It is my suspicion that Canon has shot itself in the foot with an advisory that simply did not need to be issued. They really seem to have a talent for undermining their own product at the moment. I have started a poll to see whether this alleged "problem" is a bit of a storm in a teacup. So far the responses are limited (14 so far) but nobody has yet seen the problem with their kit. If you have a 1D3 please add your findings to the poll....

Thanks.
