Please help! My 5D MK2 faulty again....

Had an ongoing Error 30 problem which according to Canon USA website indicates a shutter malfunction.

Sent camera to Canon Australia Service 5 weeks ago to be fixed - said couldn't find a problem but replaced shutter assembly anyway. Lasted 2 days and 40 shots and won't work again.

So I am now really cranky as I do not want to loose my camera for another 5 weeks as I have paid a lot of money to go on a long weekend photography workshop early next month.

So I am asking POTNers for any advice as to how to approach Canon re: getting speedier service, camera replaced (was less than 4 months old when first had fault) or maybe use of another 5DMK2 till mine is fixed.

Maybe some Aussies who have had more positive Canon Aust. experience could also give me some advice.

I'm having a similar problem - had mine for just 2 weeks before getting an Err 20 message on just about every shot - camera froze about 175 times.
Sent it to Canon AUS 6 weeks ago - said it was a mirror problem, then a shutter problem, now something else that is out of stock - and they don't know when the part will be available.
I really don't think the technicians in Cannon Australia know what they are doing.

I am unsure if the same applies in Aussie but we have quite strong consumer protection laws in NZ. I would take it back to the retailer you purchased it from & demand a replacement or full refund.

The camera is obviously a lemon, which does happen. Get it replaced.

It must have been under a warranty, so I would take it back and get a new one.
For that amount of money it should purr, not futt along!

I believe we do have that consumer protection law as a matter of fact. I've never had to utilize it but I vaguely remember one of my teachers telling us about it a few months ago. Either way, i'd have to agree that your camera must be rooted...unless it's perhaps your lens? Maybe try around with different lenses/memory cards etc.
