Seems a lifetime since my last picture post. I almost didn't sign up for this season but pressures from outside convinced me to put in another year (at least). I am only covering the MSV circuits by choice this year and picking the events that I feel will give me best return on the work invested.
Anyway, one of my favourite events took place at Oulton Park this last weekend, the VSCC Hawthorne Memorial Trophies meeting. The glory of the day was crowned by a couple of demonstration laps of one of the rarest cars in the world, the Bugatti Type 59. It was built in 1936 and first owned by King Leopold of Belgium. It is in mint condition only having completed 1,200 miles from new (I do more than that a month) and was driven by its current owner. There are only 5 of these in extistence so I was surprised it even saw the light of day, never mind the odd bit of pedal to the metal.

Without a doubt one of the best turned out cars was Sam Stretton's Alta Sports, built in 1937.

To start at the back of the field due to technical problems and then come through to take the win in any class of racing has to be applauded. Powering this monster Bentley 2 Seater Special with its 8L engine overtaking 16 cars on the way demonstrates driver skill. Stuart Fearnside took the Outlon Park Trophy with his well deserved and applauded win.

If I get the time to sit in front of the keyboard and not be worrying about my submissions I'll try to make a few more posts this season.

As a regular Oulton Park photographer, you provide me with some great inspiration
