I like the last one - it is good - maybe do a little sharpening to it. Are you shooting RAW - if so, use the software that came with the camera - it works well... The first 2 are graning due to the high iso, look a bit under exposed.

The white balance is totally off on the first 3 and they appear underexposed. I like the expressions in 2&3. Try to work with her again!

First three Images appear too warm, need to cool them down. Last image has eye appeal and is slightly soft, otherwise, pretty good.

The secret to a wonderful portrait is all about the eyes and the smile with good lighting. She is beautiful girl, but the first 3 are underexposed, needing a good flash with diffuser, but the orange backdrop makes her skin look too soft. This is why most senior pictures these days are taken indoors. It's where the industry is heading to, natural light. The last one is good, but with her face in shadow, you don't get the eyes enough. Keep trying.

Here is a quick edit of #2. I adjusted the WB, added a screen layer to bring up the exposure and adjusted the crop to get rid of the wrinkles in the background and get her eyes up into the top 1/3 of the frame.

Well the first 3 are under exposed and have the white balance off by a lot causing the exposure problem. And the last one looks like a lot of noise reduction/skin smoothing was done, it looks a little out of focus because of it. Or is it slightly back-focused?

The last one is the best of the lot for exposure, expression and pose, but the skin smoothing is very poorly done.

I did like the orange backdrop but that will affect the skin tone, try to add more separation between her and your background. The WB is off, so shooting RAW will help you with adjustments in processing. A bit of fill flash help a lot in portrait photography, even outside! Also I used Digital Photo Professional to make my initial adjustments. This software ships with your XTi.

I tried to bring your model out a bit, I hope you don't mind. You can correct some things in post, much better to get the best image you can with the camera. Take all the suggestions above and try them out, you'll notice quickly how your portraits will improve.

First 3 were off and soft, last one looks a winner though!
