Small Travel Bag

I am travelling across Japan in 2 weeks, i learned my lesson from my last trip in southeast asia, carrying a shoulder bag with 1 gripped body and 3 lenses(70-200 2.8 IS, 24-105, 35mm f1.4) for long period of time is a bad idea,

This time i will be only carrying ungripped 5D Mark II and 24-105 lens and maybe a 580EX II flash, what's the best small bag to fit that in?

I carry my 5D with 24-105 in a Domke F-5XB when I want to carry the absolute minimum.

It's also a great way to advertise that you're traveling around with expensive camera equipment.

You could probably get that in a ThinkTank Urban Disguise 20, and definitely get it in a 30

Domke F-5xb has been in my kit since probably 1991 or '92. It is fantastic bag that will easily hold a 5D + 24-105f4 & flash unit.

I might also suggest you check out the Mountainsmith Tour waist pack, it can hold a small kit, or be packed to the gills. I love the Mountainsmith Tour and use it is a variety of set ups . You can read a few of my write ups on The Tour here (keep in mind I pack mine heavy, but often load it with only a 5D + 28-70f2.8 )

Check the Lowepro Classified 140. It's very solidly built and your combo is exactly what I carry in it. The rain cover has saved my butt twice recently. The Thinktank 20 mentioned above is not large enough for this setup, IMO. Maybe the 30, but I would check with Thinktank. IMO, the Classified is better made than the Thinktank, and I looked at both.

The UD30 will definitely fit it, I have the 30.

OP if you're interested I'm happy to load the UD 30 up with my 5D, 24-105 and 580EX so you can see how it fits. Let me know.

The Lowepro Flipside 200 or if you want a little more space for carry on items for the flight over and day to day odds and ends while there, the Flipside 300 would be the better choice.

Both have the benefit of opening from the back so you don't have the worry of people getting at your kit while it is on your back, not that that will be an issue in Japan.

Walk around in Japan, how about something like Lowepro Primus. It would fit your gears, has quick access, opening on backside for more security, has room for other stuff, and most important it will be comfortable for a all day walk.

Various models of LowePro bags, in the 100 submodel size, would work for you.

Id look at a Lowepro Topload 75 AW.
